Plugin has several database tools, and you can make quick and easy to set database backup, review all tables and table columns and optimize database by removing overhead and repairing all tables. Plugin supports work with customized user tables, and with that can be used as a plugin for WPMU blogs.

All database related tools are located on Database panel.

Database Overview

First tool is used for reviewing the WordPress tables. List contain all important info about all WordPress tables and for each table you can see a detailed overview of all columns. Plugin allows you to delete or empty tables that are not part of core WordPress installation.

Backup

Backup Tool

Backup tool is really easy to use, can backup very large database and is very fast. Plugin has few settings so that you can control if the file is saved as plain SQL file or GZIP archive, you can add DROP IF NOT EXISTS for each table and you can export only structure without data.

When you start backup, plugin will create new cron job that will backup database, and file will be saved in wp-content/gdbackup folder. Once the process is completed, you will see the file (or files) in the list bellow the settings. Click on the file in the list to download it.

Tools

Tools tab currently has 2 tools, and in the next version one more will be added. Optimize Database tool will perform optimization and repair of the entire database, removing overhead and fixing potential problems. Second tool will delete all existing backup files. Third tool that will be added will be able to change collation of all tables in the database to default collation, the same one used for default WP tables.

And what about Pro?

Pro version will have much more options for backup: selection of tables for backup, and creating the schedule for of backups for auto execution. This jobs can send email notifications upon the job completion.
