For most purposes, multi ratings sets are very easy to set and use. It’s controlled via Multi Sets panel, and this video tutorial goes through procedure of creating new set and later editing it and controlling the auto insertion of the rating block into the posts and pages.
Active rating blocks can be also set to display only results and prevent voting. This is read only state and it can be set by setting read only state or by setting the parameter in shortcode or function. But, for more complex rendering there are many different methods.
Most important management panel for GD Star Rating is Articles panel and it can be used to view standard and thumb ratings for posts and comments, to adjust settings for them, delete votes and view detailed log of all saved votes. Also includes charts and other useful links.
