It can be very useful to attach image to terms in the taxonomy. You can use these images to better present terms on the front end, for archives or some other purpose. With GD Custom Posts and Taxonomies Tools Pro this is easy to do.
First, you need to enable ‘Attach image to term’ enhanced feature for taxonomy (or taxonomies) you want to have images with terms. This option is located on the taxonomy edit panel, under Features tab, GD CPT Tools Enhanced group of options, as on the image here:
Now, you can add images to terms you want to. Open the panel for taxonomy you enabled this option for, and you will see that it looks a bit different now, with additional column where images should go. Example image on the right shows 2 terms with attached images and one with no image.
If there is no image attached, you have one button with little pen in the corner. Click on it, and standard WordPress media library dialog will open. Upload new image, or select existing image, click on the Attach button, and selected image will be attached to the term, and will appear on the terms panel.
Now, you have 3 control buttons for each image: to remove image from the term (minus sign in the corner), and to see full image preview.
To use image attached to the term in the front end (theme or other plugins), you can use function gdtt_get_term_image(), that allows you to specify image size and output format. More info on that function is available in the Central Documentation.
