When a new user is creating account on WordPress powered website, WordPress will only check if the username already exists, and it will check for illegal characters. GD Press Tools Pro allows you much more control.
There are two ways to limit usernames for the registration: exceptions and length. You can add list of keywords, and if the username user wants to use contains any of these keywords, username will be rejected. Also, you can specify the allowed length for the username: minimal number of characters and maximum number of characters username must and can have.
These options are non the Global Settings panel, tab Users:

User Name Restrictions
List of keywords needs to have one name on each line.
