After the first part of the benchmark of WordPress 3.0 versus 2.9.2, here is the second part focusing on the admin section of the WordPress and the execution on the client side. Part 3 is coming in a few days and it will be dedicated to testing on the blog side of the WordPress.

WordPress 3.0 has been released few days ago, and judging from the search queries that brought visitors to this website, the transition has not been without problems. So, here is the first part of WordPress 3.0 benchmark comparing this version to previous 2.9.2.

With WordPress 3.0 almost reaching RC stage, I decided to upgrade xScape demo website to the latest nightly build. Procedure for upgrading WPMU 2.9.2 to WP 3.0 Multisite took about 3 minutes and was completed without any problems.

There is no doubt about it, WordPress 3.0 represents significant step forward for WordPress with merging with WPMU adding custom post types and many more minor elements that you will notices as soon as you install it. But I feel that this major releases is rushed.

Beta version of baseScape theme is now deployed on GD Star Rating website. As you can see, theme has very simple design, but still has plenty of features built. And all that has produced some very interesting results in terms of speed and use of resources on the website.

Now that the WordPress 2.8.1 is released, as promised, I have tested this latest version. But I didn’t want to show the same data again, so this time I will test WP 2.8.1 against WP 2.8. Also, for some of not so relevant data I will not use charts. This post will show data from testing both WP administration and actual blog pages.

I have completed the second stage of testing different WordPress versions. This time I have tested on some of the blog pages using the same conditions as for the previous tests. But, in this case, I have also tested number of SQL queries executed. And finally, we can see improvements in WP 2.8 performance on the server side.
