Index module registers new taxonomy to use for indexing. Each index is a term in this taxonomy. So, to display these terms, WordPress will need a template to use. And, it will use default taxonomy template, or template for this specific taxonomy. Module adds more templates.
First plugin module is now released, and it is called Index. This is module for GD Custom Posts and Taxonomies Tools Pro plugin. First version is 0.9 Beta, and by the end of next week it will get first stable 1.0 version. By that time video tutorial and more information will be added.
New GD Custom Posts And Taxonomies Tools Pro version brings integration with OpenCalais API for use with the tagger expansion of the tags/custom taxonomies meta boxes with some other improvements. gdr2 library is updated to latest 2.7.4 and jQueryUI to new 1.8.20.
New version brings several changes and fixes. Obsolete jQuery drop down rendering library is removed. One of the enhanced features for post types is also removed (including post type in search results) and some issues with the select field values display in some cases fixed.
Here is the minor (numerically speaking) update for the plugin, bringing several very important updates and new features. Post types and taxonomies panels are reworked to improve user experience, theme templates advisor for post types added, new custom field for resolution.
Last month I have published and article about WordPress rewriting as an intro to give better understanding what is happening behind the scenes when WordPress needs to resolve URL. This time, I will give you practical example to add date based archives to custom post types.
It is not fair only to point out what is not good with upcoming WordPress, as I did yesterday. There are many things WordPress need, and for some reason all that is completely overlooked by core developers, so I will list all those things that will actually make WordPress better.
