Theme updated: lightScape 1.1.0
After few minor update versions of lightScape, here is the first major revision that adds several new features and fixes many things, and also includes new framework. Some of the new features are dealing with better support for header layout and size. Also, a GD Star Rating website uses lightScape now.
Custom post types archive templates
WordPress support for custom post types is not yet completely implemented in the core, so some features that are considered essential when dealing with posts are not available when you use custom post types. Most important missing feature is archive template.
Images with posts and in settings
xScape allows you to upload images use WordPress Media Manager, use external images or download image from external URL. All images are resized and cached as needed by the framework. This tutorial has more info on what’s the best practice.
Next theme: newsScape
Design for newsScape theme is almost done, and theme is in works. This post contains more details about the theme features and contains several small previews. Demo version of the theme will be online on Tuesday/Wednsday next week.
xScape 1.4.7 and all themes updated
New xScape Theme Framework version 1.4.7 is just released, adding few minor features, improving some of the existing features and fixing several problems found in the past 2 weeks since the last update. All themes are updated with new framework.
Roles and Capabilities
Roles and Capabilities in WordPress are added long time ago, but they still didn’t fully replaced user levels. Finally, levels are marked as deprecated, and should be avoided. So, it’s a good time to make a final break from them, and upgrade plugins to use capabilities.
