Dev4Press is in the process of redesign, and during this weekend new design will be completed. To test everything and make sure that no issues arise from transition, maintenance periods are expected for at least 3-4 hours. New design will be using our own lightScape theme.
Dev4Press website transfer to new server is completed. I will be testing everything in the next few days to make sure that everything is working, and that some new server settings didn’t broke anything. If needed, website will be put in maintenance mode to fix the found issues.
6 months ago I have set up VPS server on VPS.NET. All my websites are migrated there, all except Dev4Press. I needed some time to set up the server and make sure that everything works. Now, the time is right to move Dev4Press, but it will take some time to do it over the weekend.
Summer is usually not very productive period for any company, but on Dev4Press there is no rest, and many new things are coming this july. Plan is to release 2 new themes and new versions of some of the plugins, and to redesign this website to use brand new theme.
With new WordPress 3.0 to be released soon, it’s time to use some of the new great features this WP brings. And most important new element is support for custom post types. But, that requires some more testing and updating GD Taxonomies Tools plugin.
It’s time to move on. Current hosting solution is simply not enough any more to host Dev4Press and our other websites. So, the decision is made to find better hosting that will allow scalability and reliability needed to ensure minimal downtime and high speeds.
New 2010 has just started, but development of Dev4Press is active as always. Latest batch of changes improves on the download pages and also ads new support activity widget. And portfolio website is finally finished, and will be maintained regularly from now on.
In the last few days there were several bugs found on Dev4Press. Some of them were minor (that includes styling issues on some pages and some IE incompatibilities), and some were more serious (broken contact form and broken download links).
