Last major release for GD bbPress Toolbox Pro, version 5.5 was released in December 2018, and few minor updates were released since. Version 5.6 is a next major update, scheduled for the second week of April.
Before we get to the 5.6 plans, a minor update for version 5.5 was released today, and it will be last minor update before 5.6 is released. Version 5.5.3 includes few updates and it fixes few issues reported in the last 3 weeks.
Version 5.6 would be released 5 months after 5.5, and that is the longest period between major versions since version 4.1 was released after 4.0. Version 5.6 development will, once again, be focused on the features requested by plugin users. So far, the list includes:
- Improvements to plugin translation, with all options that are strings going to be translatable, and all the default email templates too.
- Improvements to the quote feature that can help deal with complex content that causes problems when quoted (JavaScript – in tweets, embedded content and more).
- Improvements to private topics and replies with additional options related to access to private topics and replies.
- New email sent when the topic is automatically closed, including new email template and settings.
Also, this version will include another major feature related to the forum views tracking that will be tied into some other plugin features. Views tracking will be able to measure how many users/visitors are reading each forum, topic, view or profile.
There are several more features that might end up in this version, depending on the overall development progress. And, if everything goes as planned, version 5.6 will be released on April 18, 2019. Since some of the features will be quite complex, one Beta version is expected a few days before that.
