Work is underway on the new major update for GD bbPress Toolbox Pro, version 6.4, that will bring significant updates, including updated system requirements, many updates to the code base, and some new features.
When it comes to system requirements, the plugin will require PHP 7.0 or newer, WordPress 5.0 or newer, and bbPress 2.6.2 or newer. Plugin no longer supports old bbPress 2.5 versions, and a lot of code used for compatibility purposes will be removed.
The plugin update is right now scheduled for January 25, 2020.
If you are still stuck on old bbPress or PHP, don’t update GD bbPress Toolbox Pro to version 6.4 when released, it will not work! It is highly recommended to keep your server and website updated at all times, including plugins and themes.
The focus for the GD bbPress Toolbox Pro 6.4 will be further improving the codebase (and that is why the system requirements will change), adding several new features requested by plugin users over the past few months, and continuing the work of reorganizing various elements into Features. This time, Notifications will be turned into 3 distinct Features. This version will also see a rewrite of the core class for the plugin widgets and improved interface and additional widget features too.
Work will start on the Attachments reorganization, but that will be a major focus with the next 6.5 version in May.
For now, let me know if there is some feature you need, and I will consider it for this or the next update. You can post suggestions in the comments here or in the plugin support forum.
hello
great news, here you are some suggestions :
– enhance attachments features : a buddydrive like feature (this tool is not very supported but many people like it, he allows doing some files sharing with others.
– video player for forum (maybe we coud use elite video player, etc like integration
thank yo
Hey, thanks for the suggestions!
1. Attachments are dependent on the Media Library, and at this point, making the Attachments feature without the library would be a huge, huge work to do. WordPress in general needs better file handling, including the file access permissions and much more, but that all should be done in the core, and I have no plans to make changes in the way the attachments work in my plugin. I will make many changes to the Attachments feature in the 6.5 version, but, there is not going to be a change from Media Library.
2. WordPress already has a video player built-in, and videos in the topics/replies will work just fine with that player. What would be the advantage of the new player and how do you see it used?
