GD Topic Prefix Pro 3.0 is almost ready, and today, the first Beta version (and possibly the only one before stable release) is here showcasing a lot of new features based on the concept of multiple prefixes for each topic.

Before going further, make sure you check out the initial announcement for the upcoming version 3.0, also containing few screenshots for the new plugin version.

This is a Beta release, and it might contain bugs or unfinished features! Do not use it on live websites! This version is made for testing purposes on staging or development websites only. This version requires PHP 7.0 or newer, WordPress 5.0 or newer, and bbPress 2.6.2 or newer.

Here is the screenshot showing the list of topics in a forum, with two prefix groups assigned, both groups using different styling, one group prefix displayed before and the other after the topic title. This screenshot also shows a new widget allowing you to select prefixes for two groups (or more, depending on settings), and when you click to filter topics, you will get new topics list filtered to show topics that have both selected prefixes.

Multi prefixes per topics, new and updated widgets

The previously available widget listing prefixes have also been updated to handle multiple groups, and it has several new settings added – including grouping of prefixes by the group.

This beta release goal is to test if the old setup is working properly when updated, to test various other new changes, and make sure that everything is stable before the release of the 3.0 version. To see everything that is new, check out the plugin changelog. If you notice any issues or bugs, please, post a new topic in the support forum. And, again: don’t use this release on live websites!

The plugin home page will be updated in the next few days to show new features, the knowledge base will be updated, and the new videos prepared. If all goes as planned, version 3.0 will be released on March 1, 2021. There may be a new Beta released in the next few days too.

To see the list of all the changes in this version, please check out the changelog. If you find any issues with the new version, please, report them in the support forums.

whaoo amazing plugin, i have 3 questions :
    1) how many prefix can we insert before and after title please ?
    2) in post full view, can we see the prefixes at the top of the topic instead of the title ( it is more clear)
    example :
    TITLE
    >>> prefix 1
    >>>prefix 2
    >>>prefix 3
    3) do you have an option to set prefix like h1 or title (like the title)
    thank you

      Hey, thanks!

      1. You can add one, two, 10, or how many groups of prefixes you want to each forum. For each prefix group, you can select one prefix only. So, if you have 3 groups, you can show all 3 prefixes before the title, after the title, or mixed.
      2. This option might work with some themes, but not all. bbPress doesn’t have control over the title, so my plugin can’t do much about it, just use JavaScript to try and put prefixes there. If it doesn’t work for you, the only way is manual integration into the template. But, the plugin also adds notice inside the topic with the prefixes.
      3. I am not sure I understand this.

Every prefix is displayed as a link (SPAN wrapped A tag). It links to the current forum filtered by the topic prefix. Or it can lead to the dedicated prefix archive page. It can be changed in the settings.

This plugin is for bbPress forums only, it can’t be used for normal posts or things like that. But, if you use it in forums, each prefix acts as a filter, so each prefix has its own archive page listing all topics with that prefix.

Check out the Dev4Press forums and for example this page: https://support.dev4press.com/forums/topic-prefix/feature/

This is a dedicated prefix archive listing all topics with the prefix ‘Feature’. With new version 3.0, if you have multiple prefix groups assigned to a forum, you can filter all topics having multiple prefixes.
