GD Topic Prefix Pro 3.0 is almost ready, but, it is still in Beta state, with new Beta #3 available now. The plugin still needs some additional testing, and it is now used on the Dev4Press Support forum as the ultimate test before release.
Before going further, make sure you check out the initial announcement for the upcoming version 3.0 and post for the first Beta version, also containing few screenshots for the new version.
This is a Beta release, and it might contain bugs or unfinished features! Do not use it on live websites! This version is made for testing purposes on staging or development websites only. This version requires PHP 7.0 or newer, WordPress 5.0 or newer, and bbPress 2.6.2 or newer.
There are many changes in the Beta #3 since first two Beta version, and here is the complete list:
- Many fixes in various areas, especially related to public functions, and things related to migration from the previous plugin version.
- Widgets now have a dedicated Shortcode tab where you can see the Shortcode version of the widget based on the widget settings.
- Improvements in the handling of the new Topics Filter widget, with most of the code, moved to a new class to allow reusing it in the Shortcode.
As for the migration from the previous version, there is nothing special needed. After you install the plugin, it should work fine and everything set up before will continue to functions in the same way.
Finally, the new version is now active on Dev4Press Support Forums, and it will be a great test for migration of the forum with a lot of topics and groups. And, the process of converting the prefixes and groups will be done also, and that should help to find some outstanding bugs.
The plugin home page will be updated in the next few days to show new features, the knowledge base will be updated, and the new videos prepared. If all goes as planned, version 3.0 will be released on March 8, 2021.
