Because of release of new Core themes based on xScape, Dev4Press Updater needed an update to handle new themes installation. But, while I was working on that, updater has now improved even more and finally allows bulk installation and update of both plugins and themes.

Do to many changes, I tried to test plugins the best I can, but there might be some issues still there, so please, report any problems in the forum or in comments so I can fix them as soon as possible.

Installer procedure is fully rewritten to allow for bulk installations. Image on the right shows results from the installation process for 2 plugins, 1 theme and 1 core theme. So, now deploying a new website that uses our plugins and themes is very simple, just install updater on the new WP installation, go to Install New panel and check plugins and themes you want, and installer will do everything very fast.

Just the same, update works using bulk, check all the plugins and themes to update at bulk and save time. Updater is changed a bit to avoid confusion because of duplicated releases that can happen if plugin has both beta and stable versions that are eligible to install. Now, only one release will be available at the time, latest one based on your settings for update stability (stable, beta, nightly/alpha).

As for the Core themes, you need to install xScape Core theme first. You can’t have core version along side non core version of the theme. So, if you have normal R8 theme, you will not be able to install core R8 version, and vice versa. Updating also works like that, if you use normal R8, it can be updated to new normal R8, not to a core version. If you want to switch to core theme, you first need to remove normal version. Don’t worry, all settings will remain.

If needed, Dev4Press Updater will get some minor updates, but I plan to have new major 2.0 version in works soon that will improve interaction with Dev4Press website, allowing even submitting support tickets directly from your website. If you have any suggestions for the updater, please leave a comment here or in the forum.
