GD Custom Posts And Taxonomies Tools 3.5.2 Pro

This is mixed bag release containing bug fixes, many updates and also new features. Plugin now supports new context help added in WordPress 3.3, taxonomy tagger has support for TagThe.net service and TinyMCE integration is fully rewritten to use native popup panel.

As for the bugs fixed this includes meta box post types attachment editing, problems saving taxonomy term custom field, outdated code in meta.js, broken internal counter for custom post types and custom taxonomies and minor changes to the editor panels. Updates include latest jQueryUI, gdr2 library and improvements to plugin initialization. Front page for the plugin is improved, rendering of some custom fields updated with more options.

TinyMCE editor integration plugin is updated to use native panel instead of loading frame. This improved the speed of this feature and added more flexibility that will be used later to add more things in this integration. You can see new panel on the image on the right.

If you find any more bugs, please report them here in the comments or in the forums. Next version will have a new feature that was requested by several users: custom field to select post from any post type.

  1. Hi could you please show where to find the “TinyMCE editor integration plugin” your mentioned above? I did not see any functions in the 3.5.2 version like the image you show above…I am using WordPress 3.3 Beta 3.

  2. Hi,
Is this compatible with genesis themes? Also, before I purchase the pro version, is there an option to list the taxonomies/terms on a page or do I need to create a custom page template? I want to use this for business forms and list each separate category/term on a different page.
    Thank you.

    • Plugin implements custom post types and custom taxonomies as WordPress specification recommends, and it is recommended to have separate template files for each post type and taxonomy. This website uses 7 post types and 3 taxonomies, they have own files and it should be like that. But, despite what you might think, Genesis doesn’t support custom post types and custom taxonomies. If you create templates for them as WordPress specify it, Genesis will not be able to use then. Genesis is doing everything about post types wrong, using page templates to mimic most important core feature WordPress has: archives and single pages for post types.

  3. Hi there-

I downloaded GD Custom taxonomies. And created a taxomomy for Channels

    http://edreach.us/channels/mobile-reach/

However, I’d like to modify this channel page for each of the 14 different channels that we have. How can I do this? I’d like to add images and links and customize the archiving.

    Ideas?

    Dan

    • As with anything in WordPress frontend, pages visual customization goes into theme. Plugin has nothing to do with display, all that is done with the theme. Also, all support questions go into plugins forums, don’t use comments for that, there I can help you with specific issues that you might have with templates connected with custom post types. Also, only Pro version is supported.
