New version for GD Products Center is minor release than includes several new features and many improvements with few more bugs fixed. Products can now have international product codes, and import of products is much improved and expanded with new settings.
From now on, for each product you can enter any of the following codes: ASIN, EAN8, EAN13 and UPC. More codes will follow, so suggest what should be included. Right now templates are not changed to display these codes, but we have two tags %CODE% and %CODES% for this purpose (more in documentation). These codes have own metabox on the product edit panel, and all product types use them. Plugin also includes basic validation for all 4 code types.
Other major change in this version is in the export and import of products data. When exporting, you have one more option to set up export of product ID (include or skip). If you don’t include product ID, export file can’t be used for updating existing website products since they can’t be matched. With export, there are several new options: you can set offset and limit for import, in case you want to do partial import. And, you can option to handle existing products against the import file. If the match by product ID is on, plugin will try to match products using product ID, or you can always import as new product. If you get the chance, please test import features to make sure it is OK (use your test/dev servers). Let me know if new options are working OK.
Several reported bugs are fixed (AJAX timeout during long imports, saving price URL’s, companies archives templates issues and few admin side warnings) and some things updated. Also, for displaying prices, plugin has new option to control position of the currency in the price.
As usual, please report any problems or bugs in the forums. Version 1.5 will soon get into development, and I will keep you in the loop on how it goes and what (and when) to expect.
