July of 2019 was mostly dedicated to the website improvements and updates, and we have a lot of work ahead for the next two months, but I wanted to share a brief summary of what is done so far.
Website improvements
Last time website had so many changes was over two years ago, and the only major update was licensing overhaul last October. This time, the website received subtle makeover to improve on things that seem minor, but have a great impact on the website usability, information provided about the plugins, user experience.
A lot of work has been done on the customers’ dashboard, improving on content organization, bringing some extra awards in the form of special discount coupons, improving the user profile and settings panels and more.
More Content
A lot of work is going into a complete overhaul of the plugin individual home pages. So far, several plugins have gone through this, and the goal is to do the same for all the Pro and Free plugins by the end of September.
For this purpose, I have been using WordPress Block Editor (I don’t like calling it Gutenberg anymore), and I have created 10 custom blocks for the various plugin information elements, to be combined into various plugin pages layouts. The future updates will rely more on this, and while Block Editor might have a lot of issues still, it has proven to be a great tool for having easy to build layouts for various types of content.
Knowledge base
Some work has gone into improving the knowledge base, and that will be expanded in the next two months. This month, 20+ new posts have been added in the knowledge base, and the plan is to have at least 50 more posts added in August and September.
Plugin releases
This month was slower on new releases, but we had two major new versions for GD Mail Queue Pro and GD Content Tools Pro, and few minor updates for GD Knowledge Base Pro.
If you notice any issues with the website or have some suggestions, please let me know.
