PHP7 is upcoming major version of PHP and as it stands now, it should be released on November 12 2015. Current Release Candidate versions are stable enough for testing and it is time to get ready for the fastest version of PHP ever.
Summer break is over and time has come to start working on the next major version for GD bbPress Toolbox Pro. Version 4.0 will be a big release with a lot of new features, and I am still finilizing the list based on your suggestions and previous plans and discussions.
After few delays, some development issues, brand new xScape2 theme framework will be ready for release later this month. All framework features are finalized and framework is in testing stages. Most important thing are new themes currently in development.
New 3.1 version brings more new features, some updates and one WordPress 3.9 related fix. New features are mostly attachments related (selection of available MIMI types for upload), but it includes new advanced options and override of plugin required templates.
New version for GD Products Center is minor release, but this version includes many new and important features, changes and fixes. This version continues trend of making changes to the plugin core that will culminate with next major 1.5 version (no ETA for that one yet).
New version GD Products Center Pro 1.3.1 contains new bug fixes (mostly related to rendering, archives and conversion of properties data, minor improvements and changes for full compatibility with WordPress 3.8 (product types icons and few other things).
As you might know, I have written about plugins optimization many times already, including benchmarks. And, it is a great thing to know that some developers have taken the time to improve their own plugins based on my recommendations. Here is the story about one great optimization.
Roadmap for GD Custom Posts And Taxonomies Tools Pro plugin is updated to include plans for most of this year leading to version 4.0. But, this month plan is to have quick 3.6 release that will bring few new features and many small improvements and few potential bugs fixed.
This is first basic performance testing for WordPress plugins in 2012, and it will include 30 plugins. They will be tested on how much resources they use to load, and not to tell you if the plugin is good or not. Plugins features and plugin code quality is not the reviewed here.
It is impossible to give detailed info about development that should span a whole year, but some plans are already made and it might be interesting to list them now that new 2012 has started. When this year ends, we will see how much of these plans have been completed.
