Is paying for plugins inevitable?

For the last few days there is an open discussion on Weblog Tools Collection website about paying for plugins as a trend for 2010. There were a lot of comments and different opinions about the subject, and I will try to go over the subject again.

GD Star Rating 1.7.9

New GD Star Rating is here. This is minor update only, and more info about what’s included you can find on the official website. Also, the work has started on the next major release GD Star Rating 2.0. First announcement about it is available here.

First Impressions: WordPress 2.9

Over the weekend I have updated all my websites to use latest WordPress 2.9, and I tried to test as many features as I can on different setups, with many different plugins and overall this is great release, but as usual, it’s not all good with this latest release.

WordPress 2.9

Finally, long awaited WordPress 2.9 has been released. Here is the overview of the most important new features and changes in this latest version, and trust me that there are many new interesting things. Also, read about Dev4Press plugins compatibility.

First round of Dev4Press fixes

In the last few days there were several bugs found on Dev4Press. Some of them were minor (that includes styling issues on some pages and some IE incompatibilities), and some were more serious (broken contact form and broken download links).

GD Simple Widgets 1.5.7 Lite

After more than a month since the release of previous version of GD Simple Widgets, here is the new version that fixes few minor problems with upcoming WordPress 2.9 and also changes some of the default rendering used for post based widgets.

GD Taxonomies Tools 1.5.0 Pro

Along with the Lite version of GD Taxonomies Tools, Pro version is also released. To avoid confusion with Lite releases, Pro will have different numbering and will start from 1.5.0. This is first official release of Pro version, so here is a short introduction on new features.

Upcoming Auto update plugin

All free plugin will still remain on the WordPress.org, and will be auto updated using WordPress plugin update as usual. But this is not working for premium plugins since they are not on WordPress.org. So, we decided to make our own update plugin that will do the same for our premium plugins.

Book: WordPress 2.7 Complete

Few months ago Packt Publishing published interesting book on WordPress 2.7 written by April Hodge Silver and Hasin Hayder. This is a guide for people starting with either WordPress.com or self hosted blogs. All chapters are easy to follow, with many screenshots that will help guide you.

Why I hate Mozilla Firefox…

I know that many people will be offended by this post, but I know that I am not the only one having so many troubles with Firefox.
