On Smashing Magazine: Caching Methods

‘Do it yourself Caching Methods with WordPress’ is my first article published on Smashing Magazine for WordPress. Article covers two different caching methods and includes practical examples with in line code, with full widget example showing different cache approaches.

New Plugin: GD bbPress Toolbox Pro 1.0

As announced before, here is a brand new premium plugin for WordPress: GD bbPress Toolbox Pro. Plugin includes many expansions for the bbPress powered forums including: attachments, BBCodes, quotes, signature and much more. Plugin also has its own dedicated website.

New Plugin: GD bbPress Tools 1.0.0

Here is a brand new free plugin to extend the bbPress 2.x plugin with additional interesting tools. First version of GD bbPress Tools features 2 tools with much more coming soon. Right now, list of plans has 6 more tools in various development stages to be included soon.

As you might know, I have written about plugins optimization many times already, including benchmarks. And, it is a great thing to know that some developers have taken the time to improve their own plugins based on my recommendations. Here is the story about one great optimization.

It is not fair only to point out what is not good with upcoming WordPress, as I did yesterday. There are many things WordPress need, and for some reason all that is completely overlooked by core developers, so I will list all those things that will actually make WordPress better.

What will we get with WordPress 3.4?

WordPress 3.4 Beta was released next week, and it is a good time to see what to expect from new version. Right from the start, I must say that I am disappointed with current development of WordPress and that this new version makes even previous WordPress 3.3 looks good.

Plugins performance testing: 2012 / January

This is first basic performance testing for WordPress plugins in 2012, and it will include 30 plugins. They will be tested on how much resources they use to load, and not to tell you if the plugin is good or not. Plugins features and plugin code quality is not the reviewed here.
