Today, updated Dev4Press Network is available live. The new version brings a completely rehauled licensing system, massive under the hood enhancements and various visual updates.
Version v7 uses the same theme developed for version v6 in 2016, but it includes massive under the hood updates, various minor styling updates and tweak, improved responsive layouts, updates to the layouts for the support website, many changes to the blog, many updates to the plugins website, and completely new websites for new products: bbPress Plugins Club and Rating Plugin Club. But, let’s start in some order.
New licensing system and products
Dev4Press v7 brings a new licensing system. The new system includes 4 licenses (Single, Freelance, Studio and Agency) and 3 payment models (One Year License, Annual Subscription License and Lifetime License). To get more information about the new licensing system, check out this post. The post includes information about the licenses, what happens with previous licenses and more.
On top of that, we have 2 new products to supplement the Dev4Press Plugins Club Membership License, for users who need a set of the plugins, but not everything. Over the past few years, plugins that got the most attention are bbPress related plugins and rating plugin. So, new club licenses are for bbPress Plugins Club and Rating Plugin Club. bbPress Club contains all current bbPress plugins (GD bbPress Toolbox Pro, GD Power Search Pro, GD Topic Prefix Pro and GD Topic Polls Pro) and all future plugins (one new plugin will be released in about 2-3 months). Rating Club contains the GD Rating System Pro and all the free and pro addons for it, including all future addons (at least 2 (maybe even 3) new addons will be released in the next year).
Support Website Updates
Support forums have gotten a huge overhaul with updated headers, improved layout and many other changes. Area for the content is wider, widgets reorganized, and the top page header completely changed, as you can see on the image below.
New Agency license and old Developer License include Priority Support. But, old tickets based solution had various issues, and it has proven hard to maintain and use. So, from today, priority tickets are replaced with the Priority Support Forum. It is a closed and private forum, where only users with priority support can see own topics. Same priority rules apply to this forum as with the tickets before.
User account dashboard is updated, with various improvements in the way it displays the licenses, handles renewals and subscriptions. On top of that, one new option is added on the Dashboard Settings panel, concerning user privacy – disable the display of the Gravatar. Disabling the gravatar support works on the whole network, and your Gravatar will not be visible in any comments or in support forums.
And even more changes
There are many more updates, many related to the website performance, a lot of old code has been rewritten and optimized. All the changes should ensure faster website, especially in areas dealing with user accounts.
Also, the subsystems controlling the Dev4Press Updater responses are massively improved. Over the past 6 months, with an increased number of websites using the Updater, we have noticed the issues with the Updater checking system and occasional slow response times. With the updates deployed today, the payload sent back from the Dev4Press website is significantly smaller, faster to process and with vastly improved caching. It is highly recommended to update the Dev4Press to the new version due to release later today.
For now, if you notice any problems with the website, broken links or anything really that is causing problems, please let me know, through comments here or via the contact form.
