Removing GD: Rebranding in Progress

The collapse of MyCommerce (our payment processor and merchant of record) has forced us to speed up the schedule, accelerate the switch to Freemius integration, and rebrand all the plugins by removing the GD prefix.

Over the past 4 months, we have successfully switched eight plugins to Freemius, and more will be done soon. In the process, all GD prefix plugins have been renamed. This will continue with most of the remaining plugins, but there will be a few exceptions for now. All plugins using old/legacy Dev4Press Library (version 2.9.x) will not be renamed. These plugins have an older code base, requiring significant work to be updated to newer library versions, and at this time, we don’t have enough time to do it, but the updates are coming.

Regarding images and icons, we are a little behind on the updates, and some plugins still have old banner images with old names. The plan is to make the website changes soon, along with the completed Freemius transition for a few more plugins. In February, GD Knowledge Base Pro will get Freemius integration and a new name; the same will happen with GD bbPress Toolbox Pro. CoreSecurity Pro plugin Freemius integration will be pushed to next month, along with GD Mail Queue Lite/Pro (and this plugin will not be renamed for now). The biggest problem is the GD Rating System Pro plugin and its addons. For now, we have no plans on how to proceed with this plugin and its addons; more information will follow soon. GD Press Tools Pro (and its addons) are no longer available for purchase, and this plugin will be replaced by two new plugins later this year.

A lot of work this month will go into changes to the website, removal of MyCommerce from pricing pages, increased focus on Freemius integration, links to Freemius resources, and more.

While the payment problems have set us back a lot this month and caused us all sorts of other problems, Dev4Press will continue, and it will come back stronger than ever, with renewed focus, better payments system by Freemius and more development.

Please wait...
