One feature that has been requested over and over for the Quantum theme is the ability to change theme styling without making CSS changes. And, that is exactly what is coming in the new version 2.0 of the plugin scheduled for November.
One of the things that I had on the roadmap for Quantum from the very beginning, is to make it customizable. But, I wanted to finish other things that were oriented to the features the theme needs, better compatibility with themes and plugins and more. With version 1.6, Quantum covers everything I planned, and I have started using the Quantum on Dev4Press support forums too, so it is the time to go to the styling.
The work on 2.0 version is already well underway, and here is the screenshot of the current status of the customizer and customized forum page:
Quantum theme currently has basic ‘Default Gray’ colour theme and it has 5 predefined stylesheets with a different accent colour. But, the plan is to add another major colour theme that will also have own predefined stylesheets. And, when you switch to the custom styling in the customizer, you need to pick which major theme you want to use, and then, you need to select 4 basic colours and font size and line-height. The theme builds all other colours it uses from these 4 basic colours. But, there will be more options to set up additional colours to override many of the generated colours to better control the look for specific parts of the theme.
The new version will have main theme styling SCSS files mostly rewritten and better optimized, various fixes for the styling and some layout issues.
If you have any more suggestions for the new version, let me know in the comments or in the support forums. If all goes according to plan, Version 2.0 will be released on November 14, 2019.
