Work is underway on the new major update for GD bbPress Toolbox Pro, version 6.5, that will, once again, bring major changes and upgrade of the older code base (attachments, statistics) and several new features based on user suggestions.
The current list of tasks for this update is quite long, and it includes several new features. But, most of the work will go into Attachments. Most of the attachment implementation code will be rewritten, and it will move attachments into Features, with a modernized code base and few new features based on the requests from the past year.
More of the old code (functions) will be upgraded, and old functions will get deprecated. After this, more of the old code will need to be updated, and that is planned for the versions 6.6 to 6.8 later this year and early next year.
The plugin version 6.5 release is right now scheduled for June 5, 2021. I expect to have at least one Beta release week ahead of the stable release.
For now, let me know if there is some feature you need, and I will consider it for this or the next update. You can post suggestions in the comments here or in the plugin support forum.
Hi,
I would still love auto hyperlinking of urls pasted into topics/replies rather than currently having to use the insert link button.
Looking forward to the release.
Dale.
Hi Dale,
bbPress already does this by default by using ‘clickable’ filters to detect and make URL’s found into links. GD bbPress Toolbox Pro has options to disable these ‘clickable’ filters (via the ‘Clickable’ Feature).
Is the bbPress clickable not working for you? Maybe the format of URL’s is to blame (I think, it requires a protocol to be included with URL – http, https, ftp).
Regards,
Milan
Hi,
I just checked and that functionality is working – some conflict must have stopped it a while ago.
But I now recall the additional feature I wanted – can BBPress grab the title of the page being linked to and use that as the hyperlink text to make the link more human readable rather than just hyperlinking the url?
Dale.
Yeah, that is an interesting suggestion. I have added a task for this for version 6.5, but I can’t promise it will make it into the release, it depends on few things, but I hope it will be OK.
