After a massive release that was version 7.0, and many smaller updates released since, the time has come for the next major update – version 7.1, which is now scheduled for release on Maj 25, 2023 – two days before the plugin’s eleventh birthday.
The new version is going to be smaller in scope, but it is going to include some new stuff, many improvements and updates, some fixes, and the brand-new shared code Dev4Press Library (version 4.1.1).
Version 7.1 will bring one more Markdown parser with options to choose which one to use. It will also add a new option for Markdown – to restore minus signs converted by the WordPress texturization process. These minus signs are important for markdown tables. Tweaks Feature has grown by two new tweaks – options to disable wptexturize and convert_smilies filters used by bbPress when displaying topics and replies.
There will be many other improvements and fixes related to the WEBP support, new admin columns, improved display for forum index panels, some admin issues related to screen options, and more. Depending on available time, I will try to work on a few more things, so the final changelog will look much different, but it will still contain 20+ lines with changes explanations.
