The new 2022 has started a few days ago, and, as always, we all hope that it will be better than the previous one. And, it is the right time to share with all of you some of the plans I have for Dev4Press development for the first 6 months of 2022.
You can check out the retrospective of the previous year I posted last week, where I briefly touch on what to expect in 2022. And, as I promised, this post will go deeper into what is planned and what is most likely to get done. This is not set in stone! These plans can change, things can get delayed, and not everything I want to do will be smooth sailing. Plans are one thing, the development after that can be difficult, and while I will try to keep up with everything listed here, there is absolutely no guarantee that that will happen.
Let’s start with the obvious one: GD bbPress Toolbox Pro 7.0. This plugin will be 10 years old in May 2022, and to celebrate that anniversary, the major 7.0 version will be released in May, completing the work on the full plugin rewrite, adding a few new things, and bringing a brand new interface. This is one release that is not going to be delayed and will be ready for the end of May 2022. It is possible that another release (6.8) will be released in February, but I am not sure about that right now.
GD Rating System Pro and Free and (most of the) addons for the Pro version, will be released in January 2022. I am currently working on this, and there are several new features coming, along with the many updates and improvements. You can expect a separate announcement related to the rating plugin and more in-depth plans for it for this year. Soon after that, most likely, in February, GD Content Tools Pro 6.0 will be released. Despite the version number, it will be a smaller scope release, but a very important one bringing many improvements and fixes.
All the bbPress plugins will get major updates in February and March. All these plugins will get an updated interface, and there are some smaller scope features planned for GD Quantum Theme Pro and GD Topic Prefix Pro.
I would like to work on the next major version for GD Mail Queue Pro (and Free), but I am not sure it will be complete in time, and it might be ready in June or will be moved to late Summer. The planned features for this plugin are big in scope, and they require more testing time, so it depends on how that goes. But, there will be at least one or two maintenance releases for this plugin before the major update is ready.
So, there is a chance that I might fit more releases in the first 6 months, and there will be minor/maintenance/fixing releases, as usual, as much as needed for all plugins, and at least one or two major releases each month for the first 6 months of this year.
If you have suggestions for some of the plugins, please, use the support forums to leave suggestions, report bugs, or ask for help.
