Major 5.8 version of GD bbPress Toolbox Pro was released back in September, with the next 5.9 coming in February. But, since September, there were several minor releases available, including this latest 5.8.7.
Since September 5.8 release, the minor updates fixed more than 10 bugs, included many important updates related to the GD Quantum Theme Pro for bbPress, compatibility with PHP 7.4 and various minor improvements.
Version 5.8.7 is a very important update that brings significant performance update related to the forum home page when the visitation tracking is working. Previous versions had not to be optimized well to get the list of all the forums IDs listed on the home page, taking a lot of SQL queries, instead of just one. So, that is now fixed, and depending on the number of forums you have, you will see significantly fewer queries executed on the front page than before. On Dev4Press Support forums, this resulted to go from 206 queries to 148, a gain of 58 fewer queries executed. What is more, this one query is also cached.
This update also includes various optimizations for the in-memory cache layer.
