Major version 6.0 for GD Press Tools Pro is a very important feature-oriented release, expanding backup, debugger, database addons, improves various things in the plugin core, and fixes various issues and bugs.
Version 6.0 was in the development on and off for the past few months, mostly testing various updates and changes. Now, the work is done and 6.0 is here, with focus on plugin dashboard, backups, debugger and more.
The debugger has been expanded to support basic debugging of AJAX requests, returning tracked stats for each AJAX request. The next plugin version will return AJAX request errors (if error catching is possible, depending on the errors). The debugger now can filter SQL queries by the query caller function/method and it can show timings of filtered queries compared to all queries. It is easier to expand/collapse the caller path for each query.
There are many more changes in this release, so here is the overviews:
- Backup Addon: there are many updates in this release, various bug fixes, and there is a new backup method called Regex Filter Backup – allowing to specify regular expressions for database tables matching and files matching to include in the backup. Backup addon is prepared now for more changes coming in the next few releases.
- Database Addon: this addon also includes number of fixes and improvements, but it includes several new features: column showing free space, option to filter tables in need of optimization, color coded rows for tables that can be optimized and repaired.
- Information System: new WordPress panel is added with basic WordPress information, improvements to several displayed values, few new values, various fixes and other general improvements.
Plugin has a new dashboard, showing widget for basic system information, events log overview and backups overview. In the future versions, this will be expanded upon.
I am working on the roadmap for the next few plugin versions, and I hope to finalize it soon, and there are plenty of things to build on from this 6.0 release.
