GD Content Tools Pro 6.0

GD Content Tools Pro 6.0 is a major update for the plugin, focusing on the work related to meta fields and boxes, scripts and style improvements, improved plugin organization and performance, bug fixing, and other important updates.

This plugin has not been updated in a while, and for the most part, the plugin has been very stable and there were no bugs reported for a while now. But, there are many features requested for the plugin, and I have more ideas as well, and this new 6.0 version begins the process of regular updates that will bring even more new features. Stay tuned for the post about future plans for this plugin, to be published next week.

The plugin system requirements have changed for GD Content Tools Pro 6.0, and now, the plugin requires WordPress 5.3 or newer, and PHP 7.2 or newer. Also, once you update the plugin, make sure to check all the plugin settings to make sure all is fine. And, especially, check the bbPress Meta integration settings for every meta box, because there are many new settings added.

The focus in this version is the meta fields and boxes system, but there are other changes included as well. The plugin has updated support for new custom post types and custom taxonomies labels, many old and outdated features and functions have been removed or deprecated, and the whole addons system is scrapped and removed completely. Tagger addon has been removed (all used APIs are now gone), and Toolbar integration and bbPress Meta features are merged in plugin core.

Meta box, using improved styling, HTML5 date, and time fields.

The way the metabox is rendered is vastly improved. All date/time-based fields and color fields now have HTML5 support, and can be rendered without the use of external libraries (you can control that via plugin settings). You have more new settings included, many other settings updated or removed. All the CSS and JS files are fully rewritten, optimized, and improved, and loading changed for better performance and more flexibility. Many elements of the metabox interface are improved, with the addition of the field controls (right now included shortcode for the field), improved repeater controls, and more.

Support for bbPress integration of meta boxes has been massively improved, with many new settings, including a brand new way of rendering metabox where metabox fields are made to better fit inside the normal topic or reply form. And, the user roles supported in the integration are now switched to bbPress specific roles only!

Updated bbPress Meta integration settings rules

There are so many other updates and improvements, and I suggest checking out the changelog page for a full list. I am sure you will notice many enhancements along the way, and hopefully, nothing has been broken in the process.

To see the list of all the changes in this version, please check out the changelog. If you find any issues with the new version, please, report them in the support forums.
