coreSecurity Pro has reached version 2.0, bringing 5 new, very important features, improvements to many existing plugin features, an updated shared library, several bug fixes, and updates to the included detection dictionary items.
All new features are related to Email Notifications and Captchas. The plugin now has two new features for sending security digest notifications daily, weekly, and monthly, as well as instant notifications for specific triggers. Digest notifications can include various elements: vulnerabilities status, updates status, quick overview, and a full list of logged security events. For each digest type, you can select what is included. As for Instant notifications, the plugin currently has 3 triggers: vulnerabilities scan is completed with at least one vulnerability found, file scanner run completed, and IP has been banned. The list of instant/alert triggers will be expanded in future versions.
To send notifications, the plugin uses an HTML email template supporting a wide range of email clients, and it includes support for Dark and Light styling in the email clients that support it.
Regarding captcha support, I am not a big fan of using captchas, and I have no plans to include them on Dev4Press, but I got requests about the captcha support, and to start things, the plugin has built-in support for Cloudflare Turnstile and hCaptcha systems. Currently, a captcha can be used as an Antispam measure for Comments, bbPress Topics, and bbPress Replies. Also, via another new feature, captchas can be used to protect WordPress login forms (on wp-login.php), and more forms will be supported in the future, depending on the demand.
When it comes to other changes, the plugin dashboard has a new widget showing current website health related to security (updates lists, and a few other things), a new event for failed captcha is added (with IP ban condition), improvements to multisite support, improvements to antispam features, various improvements in many of the plugin features, plugin interface and more. Several bugs are fixed, including some related to the shared library integration and features.
Finally, work has started on a very important feature dealing with registered user accounts that can be scanned for spam based on new criteria. For now, two new columns have been added to the Users panel in WordPress, which will be necessary for that new feature.
And, plugin documentation has been expanded again with new articles for new features, and more.
