While smaller in scope, this is a significant update for the GD Quantum Theme Pro plugin. It brings one interesting new feature, a new shared library, a settings panel, and various other improvements and tweaks.
GD Quantum Theme Pro is going through a significant process of changing how it is customized, and the plan is to have an alternative to the Customizer use. With the growth of block-based themes that don’t use Customizer, it is crucial to have the ability to set up Quantum without the Customizer. In the last two versions, some work has gone into that, and version 4.0 now brings a few more things for that goal. The plugin now has a settings panel; currently, you only have the option to add a License Code. A license code is not required, but it will be since version 4.2.
There is one new option for the Index panel: You can force bbPress to list all private forums to all users and visitors. Typically, bbPress Private forums are only visible to logged-in users. But, if you run a support forum (just like we do on the Dev4Press Support website), it can be beneficial to list private forums so that users coming to the website, even without an account, can see that your support has those forums. This is a cosmetic change for the forum Index page only; access to the forums is still locked if they are private, and users who are not logged in will see a 404 page. Also, using GD bbPress Toolbox Pro, you can show an alternative to the normal 404 page using the ‘Not Found’ feature. You can see that in practice on the Dev4Press Support forums, where for each private forum not logged-in, users will see a nice message about the plugin forum they are trying to access, with links to log in or buy the license to gain access.
Other changes include tweaks to the plugin dashboard and status displaying license information, CSS updates and removal of outdated EOT font file (only WOFF and WOFF2 are in use now). The plugin is fully tested with the latest bbPress 2.6.11 and WordPress 6.6.x.
